Don't Nod, the developer behind Lost Records, has announced job cuts

June 30, 2025 Update: According to a statement given to Eurogamer, layoffs have been confirmed by the studio.

"We are deeply saddened to confirm that after completing Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, we have made the tough decision to implement another round of layoffs, affecting our Montreal studio."

"This decision follows extensive exploration of alternative solutions and ultimately stems from the challenges of maintaining sustainable operations within a difficult economic environment for Don't Nod. We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to every team member affected for their dedication and valuable contributions during the development of Lost Records. Their skills and commitment were key in bringing the project to fruition."

Initial Report, June 26, 2025: Reports have emerged that staff have been laid off at Don't Nod, the developer behind Lost Records.

Although there hasn't been an official confirmation from the studio, several employees have shared the development on their LinkedIn pages, referring to it as "another wave of layoffs impacting the gaming sector."

The exact number of affected employees remains unknown; however, some former team members described the situation as a "layoff wave," noting they were "unprepared" for the cuts. Affected roles include QA, artists, and level designers.

One individual mentioned the layoffs were a "significant portion" of their "moderately sized team."

Representatives from GamesIndustry.biz are awaiting comment from Don't Nod.

In 2025 alone, it's estimated that approximately 2,500 developers have faced job losses. Most recently, EA experienced multiple layoffs, including at Respawn, along with reductions at People Can Fly, Jagex, and Build a Rocket Boy.
