David Polfeldt has found a new role four months after his departure from Ubisoft. The games industry veteran is now a senior advisor at PlayerUnknown Productions, a studio started by PUBG creator Brendan Greene.

Polfeldt is a “great fit” to help create a “successful studio culture with a great working environment,” Greene said in an official announcement.

“I’m delighted to join the team at PlayerUnknown Productions, where I will help guide Brendan’s hand in creating an authentic studio and a successful brand,” Polfeldt stated following the assignment.

It is unclear if Polfeldt will be involved in game production. PlayerUnknown Productions is an independent R&D studio formed by Brendan Greene in 2019. It has nothing to do with the original PUBG game. The team has also been developing an unannounced project Prologue, which is said to combine new technologies and gameplay experiences.

Polfeldt left Ubisoft Massive in March, citing the studio’s rapid growth as the main reason behind his decision. He worked at the studio for 17 years and contributed to all of its main releases, including World in Conflict, Far Cry 3, The Division, and the upcoming Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.

After quitting Ubisoft, Polfeldt has been consulting other game developers under his own company, Flaming Cat AB.
