Bungie has postponed the release of Marathon, informing players, "we know we need more time"
Bungie has announced a postponement of the release date for its highly anticipated shooter game, Marathon, initially set for September 23. The company has not yet disclosed a new launch date.
The "Marathon Dev Team" issued a statement explaining that feedback from the game's Alpha test has prompted them to refine the game's unique elements. They emphasized the necessity of additional development time to align the game with players' expectations and passions.
This announcement follows on the heels of previous challenges for the studio, which last month faced accusations of using unlicensed artwork. This marks the fourth time Bungie has been accused of such copyright issues by multimedia artists.
The statement highlighted the importance of fan input from various platforms like social media and Discord, stating, "Your feedback has been invaluable. We've realized we need further development time, leading us to delay the September 23rd launch."
Bungie plans to continue testing the game internally and externally, involving more players from the initial Alpha testing phase, to implement gameplay improvements and introduce new features.
The update concluded with an assurance to fans that more information, including a revised release date, will be provided by Bungie later in the fall.
