The founder of Nexus Mods is set to depart as the ownership of the website transitions to new hands

The founder of Nexus Mods is handing over the management of the popular modding platform to new proprietors. Robin "Dark0ne" Scott expressed in a statement that he felt it was necessary to withdraw from actively managing the platform for both his and the community's well-being.
Scott reminisced about starting the project in 2001 from his bedroom with a simple internet connection, driven by his enthusiasm for Morrowind. He never anticipated it becoming a business, merely intending to create a reliable space for modders to share their work. Over time, this modest vision transformed into Nexus Mods.
Reflecting on his journey, Scott described his experience as deeply rewarding, yet often overwhelming, due to the constant demands of managing a major social platform. He acknowledged neglecting his personal health in the process, as the site had been a persistent source of stress and anxiety.
Scott emphasized the importance of finding successors who understand the intricacies of the modding scene, ensuring they could continue to honor both the platform and its community. After careful consideration, he believes he found the right people to carry the torch.
Although the management has changed, Scott assured users that they wouldn't notice significant differences in their experience. The new leaders, identified only by usernames, have his complete confidence.
Addressing the community, the new proprietor "Foledinho" confirmed that mods will remain free and ownership will stay with the creators. On the subject of monetization, they stated that the platform's core principles would remain intact, without introducing aggressive monetization strategies or paid mods. The aim is to maintain a user-oriented approach and possibly reduce advertisements.
