Sony has confirmed job cuts at Bend Studio
Bend Studio, part of Sony's first-party development team, has experienced a reduction in staff following the decision to end work on a "live service concept".
According to a report by Bloomberg, the job cuts impacted approximately one-third of the workforce at the studio.
Although Sony has yet to confirm these figures, they provided a statement to Kotaku.
A spokesperson stated, "Earlier this year, Bend Studio concluded the development of a live service concept. After careful evaluation, we decided not to proceed with it."
They further added, "The team is now focusing on their next project, and strategic adjustments were made to support the studio's long-term goals, which included some staff reductions.
We did not take this decision lightly, and we deeply appreciate the significant contributions of those impacted. Bend Studio has been an integral part of PlayStation Studios for many years, and we are optimistic about its future and creative trajectory."
The discontinuation of Bend Studio's project was officially acknowledged by Sony earlier this year, along with another project from Bluepoint Games.
"Both Bend and Bluepoint are esteemed teams within the PlayStation Studios community, and we are in the process of working closely with each to outline upcoming projects," said a spokesperson.
