Top executives depart from Build a Rocket Boy just days before the launch of MindsEye

The developer behind MindsEye, Build a Rocket Boy, faced the departure of its chief legal officer and chief financial officer just a week prior to the game's scheduled launch on June 10.
Riley Graebner, the former chief legal officer, announced his departure on LinkedIn. While expressing his pride in what the company achieved, Graebner did not provide reasons for his departure or his future plans.
In his statement, Graebner mentioned, "Over three and a half years, we've grown the company significantly to over 450 employees and launched multiple products globally. We established the legal team and built the legal ops framework from scratch, focusing on systemization and automation." He also praised his "talented and dedicated legal team."
Graebner hinted at future endeavors, stating he is "excited for what’s next" but plans to remain under the radar for the time being, encouraging followers to "stay tuned." Eurogamer reported on his remarks.
Paul Bland, the CFO, has also left the company, as confirmed by his LinkedIn profile, marking the end of his tenure in June 2025.
These significant exits follow comments from co-CEO Mark Gerhard, who suggested that the unfavorable initial feedback for MindsEye was part of a deliberate campaign against the studio, as noted by Eurogamer.
Update, June 5: This article has been updated with the correct LinkedIn link for Paul Bland, following changes to his account name and URL.
