In the United States, several prominent retail chains have commenced notifying their clientele about the cancellation of Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders, occurring mere days before the console's official launch.

Multiple social media platforms have been flooded with complaints from customers of retailers such as Walmart, Target, and GameStop, expressing frustration over the unexpected cancellation of their pre-orders, with some not receiving any prior notification.

While some individuals have been informed that the consoles were "out of stock," others have contested claims that payment processing issues led to the cancellations.

A Walmart representative allegedly communicated to a customer, "I regret to inform you that the order has been canceled due to a large number of orders."

In a statement given to the media, Target conveyed, "We have identified a small group of customers whose orders were unfortunately affected by a system error. We recognize how exciting this new product launch is, and are working to ensure these customers are taken care of."

This development occurs shortly after the UK retail chain GAME announced last week that it too had to cancel some Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders. Owned by the Frasers Group, GAME did not specify the reasons or the exact number of affected orders but issued an apology on their website and social media, preventing responses.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is set for a global launch on June 5. Nintendo has stated its dedication to making the new console "as obtainable as we possibly can," amidst market volatility due to US tariffs.
