Scopely has completed the acquisition of Niantic's games division for a total of $3.5 billion

Subsidiary of Savvy Games Group, Scopely, has completed its acquisition of Niantic's gaming division for $3.5 billion, finalizing the deal in late May.

On May 29, 2025, Scopely announced, "We are proud to share that we closed the acquisition of Niantic's game business." They highlighted that this deal introduces renowned titles like Pokémon Go, Pikmin Bloom, and Monster Hunter Now, along with companion platforms such as Campfire and Wayfarer, to their collection.

"We look forward to bringing over 400 of Niantic's talented developers into our international team, where they will continue to support their dedicated gaming community," said Scopely.

The acquisition was initially announced in March, with Scopely promising not to implement any layoffs during the integration of Niantic's teams.

Among the acquired assets, Pokémon Go stands out, having maintained its status as a top mobile game since its 2016 debut, boasting over 100 million users in 2024.

In March, Scopely expressed its intention to continue advancing the plans for each of Niantic's titles.

Meanwhile, Niantic will transition into an independent entity known as Niantic Spatial, concentrating on geospatial AI technology, while retaining ownership of AR games like Ingress Prime and Peridot.
