The release of Amazon Prime's Fallout series prompted a substantial rise in daily active users for Fallout 3 and Fallout 4, with figures increasing by 225% in the weeks after the show's debut last April. This surge was highlighted in an analysis by Sensor Tower, which evaluated the impact of media adaptations on their original game titles.

According to Sensor Tower's data, sales of Fallout 3 increased by 125% and those of Fallout 4 by 410%, aided by a decrease in pricing when the series was launched. Additionally, Fallout Shelter, a mobile game offshoot, saw a 77% rise in daily users, alongside a 150% increase in revenue from in-app transactions.

There was also a 20% increase in the download rate of the Amazon Prime Video app during the series premiere week. Amazon has revealed the second season will premiere in December 2025 and has confirmed a third season.

Sensor Tower also gathered data regarding the HBO interpretation of The Last of Us and Warner Bros.’ A Minecraft Movie. Following the start of the second season of The Last of Us on April 13, 2025, the daily users for its games elevated by 40%. HBO Max app downloads similarly grew by 6%.

In contrast to Fallout's adaptation strategy, Sensor Tower identified that the success of The Last of Us was primarily driven by increased public awareness rather than the "free-to-play" nature of games like Fallout Shelter or unique storylines that diverge from the source game.

The Last of Us has been renewed for a third season, and Francesca Orsi, HBO's programming EVP, commented to Deadline on expectations for the series to continue into a fourth season.

After the release of A Minecraft Movie, which achieved over $550 million in global box office sales within ten days, there was a 44% rise in mobile in-app purchases and a 36% boost in console game sales during the movie's release month.

Sensor Tower data indicated a 9% increase in Minecraft’s mobile players, while the console saw a 41% surge after the movie's premiere. According to Deadline, Warner Bros. has subsequently confirmed a sequel for A Minecraft Movie is in production.
