The gaming division of Niantic has officially become a part of Scopely
Scopely announced the completion of its deal with the creators of Pokémon GO. As of May 29, 2025, the now-former gaming division of Niantic officially becomes part of Scopely.

The deal was first announced publicly on March 12. It took two and a half months from the announcement to completion.
The acquisition of Niantic Games cost Scopely $3.5 billion. Through the deal, the company gained not only Pokémon GO but also games like Pikmin Bloom and Monster Hunter Now, as well as applications like Campfire and Wayfarer. Additionally, Scopely's workforce increased by more than 400 people.
In the part of Niantic that was not sold to Scopely, massive layoffs began amid subsequent structural changes. It is expected that by mid-June, Niantic will lay off 68 people, including some executives.
