Hideo Kojima has shared that an anime based on Death Stranding is in the works.

In a conversation with Vogue Japan, Kojima discussed the upcoming live-action film inspired by Death Stranding and mentioned that an anime project is also progressing.

According to Kojima, "I am currently working with A24 on a live-action film adaptation of Death Stranding," (as translated by VGC). "There's a difference between adaptations like The Last of Us, which adhere closely to the game's story, and films like The Super Mario Bros Movie, which cater more to the game's fans.

"While each of these has its strengths, my passion for film drives me to explore cinema's unique expressive potential," Kojima explained. "My goal is to create a version of Death Stranding tailored for film that is capable of winning accolades at events like the Cannes or Venice Film Festivals. Alongside this, an anime adaptation is also in development."

The partnership between A24 and Kojima Productions, which is headed by Kojima himself, to create a live-action Death Stranding film was announced in December 2023. However, specific release details remain undisclosed.
