Niantic Spatial has made the decision to lay off a "small number" of its employees

Niantic Spatial, a spin-off from Niantic, has announced more workforce reductions.
According to Game Developer, Niantic has confirmed the dismissal of a "small number" of staff as the company undergoes reorganization to focus on creating a geospatial AI model.
Niantic explained that the restructuring led to some roles being deemed unnecessary in the new setup.
Game Developer highlighted that a California Employment Development Department WARN notice indicated five employees were affected by the cuts.
Back in April, Niantic Spatial had already laid off 68 workers.
This development follows the $3.5 billion acquisition of Niantic by Scopely, after which Scopely stated there would be no layoffs within Niantic's gaming division.
