The non-profit group PlanetPlay is set to unveil its Green Games Showcase during the Summer Game Fest on June 7, 2025.

The event, presented by games journalist and GamesIndustry.biz contributor Will Freeman, will feature a range of games focused on environmental themes and sustainable practices.

Key collaborators in this initiative include Amazon Games, Lockwood Publishing, Sharkmob, Team17, Netspeak Games, and Wicked Saints Studios.

In addition, PlanetPlay is striving to gather $300,000 by June 30, 2025, with the objective of planting 50,000 trees in Timor-Leste. This effort is in collaboration with the local nonprofit WithOneSeed for reforestation and ecological restoration.

During the livestream, PlanetPlay ambassador Ian Livingston will participate with Freeman in a discussion on how gaming "can inspire meaningful climate action and effect tangible real-world results."

Last month, Livingston was revealed as one of three new ambassadors for PlanetPlay, joining actress Briana Evigan and Formula E champion Pascal Wehrlein.

"This is more than just a showcase; it's a call to action," stated PlanetPlay CEO Rhea Loucas. "Gamers represent one of the most passionate and imaginative communities worldwide.

By showcasing eco-friendly gaming at the Summer Game Fest, coinciding with World Environment Day, we aim to demonstrate that gaming can not only be impactful but also educational, engaging, and inspirational."

Recently, PlanetPlay published its latest Play2Act survey results in partnership with the United Nations Development program.

The findings revealed that nearly 50% of gamers have adjusted their behaviors towards greener choices after engaging with games focused on climate change issues.
