Tencent canceled the strategy game Battle Aces by former Blizzard developers. The reason was weak metrics from beta testing

The studio Uncapped Games recently announced the discontinuation of its debut project— the free-to-play RTS Battle Aces, which was created with funding from Tencent.

According to the official statement, the results of the closed beta tests for Battle Aces were not satisfactory enough to justify continuing the game's development.

Battle Aces was introduced in June 2024 and was positioned as a next-generation competitive RTS. The studio aimed to attract a new audience to the genre by speeding up certain gameplay elements, reducing micromanagement, and focusing on short matches.

Uncapped Games was founded back in 2021 as a subsidiary of LightSpeed Studios (a Tencent division known for PUBG Mobile). One of its leaders was David Kim, a game designer of StarCraft II and lead systems designer of Diablo IV.

What will happen to Uncapped Games after the closure of Battle Aces is unknown. To learn more about the fate of other studios founded by former Blizzard employees, check out our article.
