The new generative model Veo 3 creates realistic gameplay videos. The cost of pleasure is $0.0075 per second

On May 20, Google introduced a new generative model — Veo 3. Recently, an AI enthusiast tried it in creating video gameplay and shared the costs involved in producing such clips.

This refers to a user of the social platform X, known as fofr, who is actively experimenting with Google's new product. They published a minute-and-a-half video showcasing the model's capability in creating fake gameplay.

The video is a compilation of generated short videos, with many nods to existing titles (such as GTA, Fortnite, and The Last of Us), alongside originals like a capybara simulator.

In his post, fofr commented that now anyone can prepare their own E3 show. Also, it seems from his words that the prompts were not deeply elaborated. They were variations of queries like:

  • a third-person open-world video game walking around…
  • an fps video game in/on a…

Generating one second of fake gameplay costs 0.75 cents. This is twice the price of generating video in Veo 2 today, which is 0.35 cents.
