FromSoftware and A24 collaborate on Elden Ring adaptation

FromSoftware has joined forces with A24 to bring a cinematic version of Elden Ring to life. Renowned filmmaker Alex Garland, known for his work on Ex Machina and Annihilation, will be at the helm of this project. Garland has also contributed to the screenplay for the films 28 Days Later and Sunshine, and is involved with the upcoming sequel, The Bone Temple, as well as 28 Years Later.
George R. R. Martin, who played a key role in crafting the world of Elden Ring, will take on a producer's role for the movie. In addition, producers Peter Rice and Vince Gerardis, and Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich of DNA Films, are also part of the production team.
The possibility of adapting Elden Ring had previously been hinted at by Martin in the past year, stirring speculation about a potential film or television series based on the game. In a blog entry, Martin wittily dismissed the rumors, saying, "I have nothing to say... you never heard a peep from me, mum mum mum. What rumour?"
In a conversation with The Guardian, Hidetaka Miyazaki, FromSoftware's president, acknowledged the idea of adapting Elden Ring into another medium, such as a film. Miyazaki expressed openness to collaboration, stating that a trusted partner is essential to bring this vision to fruition.
A24 is also collaborating on another game-to-film project, a Death Stranding adaptation, in conjunction with Kojima Productions. Michael Sarnoski, known for A Quiet Place: Day One, is slated to direct.
