This financial aid is intended to promote the development of commercial prototypes by studios based in Hamburg. Interested applicants can look forward to the next round of funding applications, which will be open in spring 2026.
The games benefiting from this round include:
- NeverLight by Nightless Games – €80,000

- Cosmic Run by Zinktank Labs – €30,000
Dennis Schoubye, head of Gamecity Hamburg and a committee member, remarked, "The high quality of the projects submitted to this funding round led to an intensive decision process within the awarding committee."
He also noted, "The funded projects show a wide variety of genres, ideas, and teams. With the prototype funding, we are supporting established companies and up-and-coming start-ups in Hamburg as a games location."
The selection of grant recipients was made by Gamecity Hamburg's awarding committee, which is composed of notable industry figures such as:
- Nina Müller (VP of publishing and development services at Goodgame Studios)
- Jonas Hüsges (Publishing director at Daedalic Entertainment)
- Valentina Birke (Director at Indie Arena Booth/Super Crown Entertainment)
- Michael Schade (CEO and co-founder of Rockfish Games)
- Dennis Schoubye (Head of Gamecity Hamburg)
Beyond the Prototype Funding, Gamecity Hamburg also offers the Games Lift incubator, designed to assist five teams or start-ups focused on digital game development.
This program includes €15,000 in start-up funding, along with coaching, mentorship, workshops, and ongoing support. Current applications for the Games Lift incubator are being accepted until June 10, 2025.
