TaleMonster Games, a developer known for its casual mobile games, has successfully secured $7 million in its initial funding round.

The investment was spearheaded by General Catalyst and included contributions from a16z speedrun, Arcadia Gaming Partners, and Ludus Ventures.

TaleMonster aims to revitalize the casual gaming landscape, which it believes has become overly predictable and optimized, reducing the fun factor, as mentioned by CEO Irem Sumer in an interview with Venture Beat.

The studio posits that the last ten years have seen casual gamers develop greater skill levels. Thus, they seek to create games that cater to this evolved player base.

Their inaugural title, Match Valley, a match-3 game, is available on both Android and iOS, with over 5,000 installations reported on Google Play.

TaleMonster's team is composed of industry veterans from Peak Games, the creators of Toy Blast and Toon Blast.

Support from the investment will facilitate the growth of Match Valley and the development of future titles. The company also plans to enhance its workforce and innovate through the creation of "reusable systems" and by improving content delivery methods.

In a LinkedIn post, İsmet Gökşen from Ludus Ventures remarked, "Irem Sumer and the TaleMonster Games team are revolutionizing the genre with a novel core loop and highly engaging gameplay, with early users averaging over 50 minutes of playtime daily."
