Kenji Matsubara resigns as CEO of SNK

Kenji Matsubara is set to leave his position as the Chief Executive Officer of SNK Corporation, as officially announced by the company.

SNK stated that Matsubara would transition to an "advisory role," offering his knowledge and insights to the company in a different capacity.

Matsubara became part of SNK's leadership team in 2021, following his experience as president and chief publishing officer at Sega, where he started in 2014 as the Chief Technology Officer for Sega Networks Company. By 2017, he had advanced to the role of president. He stepped down from Sega in 2020, citing "personal reasons."

In his career prior to Sega, Matsubara was at the helm of Tecmo Koei for nearly a decade, and also led the local operation of mobile game developer Zynga.

SNK commended Matsubara's leadership, highlighting his role in advancing the company's growth and innovation.

Under his leadership, SNK's development department saw significant growth, alongside enhancements in sales and marketing, elevating it to compete globally as a prominent publisher.

The company's board extended heartfelt thanks to Matsubara for his innovative leadership during a pivotal time for SNK.

In its statement, SNK affirmed its commitment to continuing its strategic objectives and expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming chapter in its leadership journey.
