The release of The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy- did not help the game developers avoid the prospect of bankruptcy
The studio Too Kyo Games, founded by the creators of Danganronpa, continues to hover on the brink of bankruptcy. They hoped to improve their financial situation with the April release of the tactics game The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy-, but the gamble on the game has yet to pay off.

The head of Too Kyo Games, Kazutaka Kodaka, admitted on social media that even after the game's release, the studio still faces financial problems. He did not go into details but noted that The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy- is unlikely to be released on PlayStation or Xbox, as gamers have requested—his team simply lacks the funds for porting.
Recall that Too Kyo Games started working on The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy- soon after its founding in 2017. Initially, the tactics game was set to be published by a company other than Aniplex, but the partnership fell apart, and the game was almost canceled. After the contract was terminated, the studio decided to restart development, which led them into debt.
In March 2025, Kodaka said in an interview with Nintendo Life that if The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy- does not sell well, it could mean the end for Too Kyo Games.
The release of The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy- took place on April 24 on PC and Nintendo Switch. According to analyst estimates, the Steam version of the game earned $2.8 million in gross revenue during its debut week. At the time of writing, it has a "very positive" rating on the platform—90% of the 1,700 reviews are positive.
