RVIs released RGDBook — a directory for Russian game developers
The Organization for the Development of the Video Game Industry (ODVGI) has attempted to compile various crucial pieces of information in one place, which gaming companies need to operate in the Russian market. They have launched a special project called RGDBook (Russian GameDev Book) or "The Developer's Red Book."
Currently, RGDBook consists of 11 sections, which cover the following areas:
- the general state of the gaming industry in Russia;
- business registration;
- government incentives and other support;
- investment;
- contract management;
- personal data handling;
- product protection;
- advertising and promotion;
- regulation of gambling, loot boxes, and online casinos;
- game labeling;
- existing gaming associations.
According to RGDBook's table of contents, future additions to the guide will include sections on blockchain, game development education, and workforce management. A list of gaming media outlets will also be made available on its pages.
Furthermore, ODVGI plans to release what they call "Green Pages" at a later date — guidelines for integrating narratives into games. However, the release date for these is currently undisclosed.
As ODVGI writes, the idea to create a guide on the Russian gaming industry was initially suggested by Albert Zhiltsov, the creative producer at 1C Games Studios. The organization supported his idea. In total, more than a dozen individuals, including developers, lawyers, and tax consultants, voluntarily contributed to the creation of RGDBook.
