Rockstar has pushed back the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 to 2026

Grand Theft Auto 6, developed by Rockstar Games, has had its release postponed until May 26, 2026. Originally, the game was expected to launch in 2025.

In an update shared through a blog post, Rockstar Games explained the delay is due to the need for additional time to meet the anticipated quality levels. The developer expressed gratitude for the continued interest and excitement from fans, acknowledging their supportive patience.

"We are very sorry that this is later than you expected," the statement read, reinforcing their commitment to surpassing player expectations with every title, including this upcoming installment of Grand Theft Auto. The original launch time frame was announced in December 2023 after the debut trailer was released.

Meanwhile, Take-Two Interactive highlighted in their financial report for the third quarter of the fiscal year 2025 that they had anticipated a fall release for the game. This adjustment reflects the strategic decision by the developer to allocate more time for game development.
