Electronic Arts has announced the elimination of an additional 200 positions, a move they describe as being in line with their strategy for "driving future growth." This decision increases the total number of job reductions to approximately 300.
Electronic Arts has announced the reduction of 200 jobs, following the earlier layoff of 100 employees at Respawn on April 29.
According to IGN, these additional job losses primarily impact the EA Experiences team, which is responsible for player support in areas such as customer service, fan care, and marketing. Other departments within EA have also experienced staff reductions.
In a statement, EA remarked, "As part of our continued focus on our long-term strategic priorities, we’ve made select changes within our organization that more effectively aligns teams and allocates resources in service of driving future growth."
The company emphasized its commitment to handling the layoffs with "care and respect," assisting those affected in finding new roles within EA when feasible and providing support during the transition period.
The recent layoffs at Respawn, which impacted approximately 100 employees, involved the termination of two initial stage projects and staff reductions across its Apex Legends and Star Wars: Jedi teams. The studio, owned by EA, described the decision to streamline its teams as challenging, highlighting adjustments made across the Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi teams.
