Mighty Yell, a development company located in Toronto, has reportedly let go of a number of its employees, though the exact figure remains undisclosed
Mighty Yell, the studio behind The Big Con, has reportedly reduced its workforce as it gears up to launch its forthcoming title, All Systems Dance.
According to a post on the Toronto-based company's BlueSky account, financial difficulties have led to the dismissal of several developers.
The statement read, "This is not a decision we came to easily, and we know the impact it will have on our team and community. We want to be as transparent as possible regarding the layoffs, and the difficult state of funding in games."
It continued, affirming that the launch of All Systems Dance remains on schedule, with more updates to follow. The focus, however, is on supporting the team during this challenging period. "While we wish layoffs could be avoided, we are hopeful that we will get through this difficult chapter and bring as many members of the dev team as possible in the near future."
So far, Mighty Yell has released two games: The Big Con, a 2021 adventure set during the '90s, and Knight in the Attic, a 2023 VR experience centered on a labyrinth board game.
Set against a dystopian backdrop, All Systems Dance promises a fresh twist as a rhythm-action adventure.
