Toronto-headquartered development firm Mighty Yell reduces its workforce

Mighty Yell, the developer known for The Big Con, has reduced its workforce by an undisclosed amount as it prepares to debut its upcoming game, All Systems Dance.

According to an announcement on their BlueSky account, the Toronto-based studio cited 'financial challenges' as the reason for letting go of a 'few' team members.

The statement read, "This was a hard choice for us, and we understand the consequences it imposes on our team and community. We aim to maintain transparency concerning the layoffs and the current funding difficulties in the gaming industry."

Despite these hurdles, Mighty Yell confirmed, "We are proceeding with the launch of All Systems Dance and will provide updates on its release shortly. Right now, our priority is assisting our team through this difficult chapter."

"While avoiding layoffs would have been preferable, we remain optimistic about overcoming this challenging period and rehiring as many of our developers as possible soon," the statement continued.

Mighty Yell's portfolio includes The Big Con, a 2021 adventure set in the 1990s, and a 2023 VR experience named Knight in the Attic, which involves navigating a complex labyrinth board.

The upcoming game, All Systems Dance, takes players into a rhythm-action adventure within a dystopian setting.
