Wombo Games is a newly established studio created by a co-founder of IO Interactive
A newly established game development company, Wombo Games, has been introduced by Janos Flösser, noted for co-founding IO Interactive and being the former Chief Creative Officer at Square Enix.
Based in Copenhagen, Wombo Games is releasing its inaugural game, Raiders of Blackveil, which is set to appear in Steam Early Access during the summer.
This debut title combines elements from various genres, offering a PVE (player vs environment) roguelite experience that incorporates MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) characteristics and extraction-style mechanics. The game supports cooperative play for up to three participants.
The development of Raiders of Blackveil has been ongoing for two years. The team at Wombo Games consists of 21 developers, with experience from renowned series such as Hitman, Kane & Lynch, Just Cause, and Tomb Raider.
The studio operates with a flat organizational structure, minimizing management layers to enhance each developer's role and influence on their projects.
"Raiders of Blackveil holds a special place for us, being our first project," commented Flösser. "The game represents our studio's ethos as every team member has played a direct role in its creation."
According to Wombo Games, community feedback will play a significant role in the ongoing development of their initial game.
"At Wombo, our decision-making is collaborative," Flösser said. "We aim to integrate our players' feedback to guide us as we continue to refine the game during its early access phase later this year."
