In 2024, Twitch attracted over 60% of the global audience for live game streaming, with users spending upwards of 15.6 billion hours watching gaming content. The platform's average monthly visitor count exceeded 105 million during the year.
Remaining a staple on Twitch, Grand Theft Auto 5 was the most-watched game, even more than a decade after its 2013 debut. The game achieved over 1.4 billion hours of global viewing, with broadcasts exceeding 25.8 million hours.
Trailing closely, League of Legends garnered an audience of over 1.19 million viewers. Games like Valorant, Call of Duty, and Fortnite also attracted considerable viewership, with Valorant alone securing over 804 million viewing hours. Additionally, Minecraft maintained its popularity with a global viewership surpassing 379 million hours.
The platform also saw notable expansion in streaming formats, particularly with virtual streamers (VTubers) gaining increased attention. These streamers utilize 2D or 3D avatars to engage with audiences. According to Twitch, VTubers saw a substantial rise in viewership, hitting 1.1 billion hours—a 10% increase from the prior year. The UK experienced the most significant uptick in this area, with a 200% increase in hours watched.
