Ian Livingstone, a seasoned figure in the gaming industry, has been appointed as an ambassador for PlanetPlay
PlanetPlay, a nonprofit organization, has revealed the appointment of three new ambassadors for their Make Green Moves initiative. Among them is renowned games industry figure Ian Livingstone.
Joining Livingstone in this first group of ambassadors are actress Briana Evigan and Formula E champion Pascal Wehrlein. More ambassadors are expected to be introduced as the year progresses.
Their roles involve supporting PlanetPlay's sustainability push in the gaming sector by engaging with participating games and speaking at both consumer and industry events.
This initiative, known as the MGM campaign, has raised $2.2 million, all of which has been allocated to environmental efforts.
Additionally, PlanetPlay is set to collaborate with Summer Game Fest 2025 for the inaugural Green Games Showcase, which will feature a livestream of environmentally focused games.
The organization noted, "Studios can participate by contributing via corporate donations, creating green-themed game content under MGM, or developing eco-friendly games."
The objective is to gather $300,000 by June 30, 2025, to benefit habitat restoration efforts in Timor-Leste through a partnership with WithOneSeed.
Ian Livingstone expressed, "Games have always been a source of creativity, skill development, and inspiration. PlanetPlay offers a chance to leverage this influence for environmental benefit."
He added, "I'm excited to join this initiative that empowers players to make meaningful environmental contributions."
Rhea Loucas, CEO of PlanetPlay, remarked: "Video games can unite people, drive change, and make sustainability more tangible. With Earth Month and Earth Day being pivotal times for these efforts, we are intensifying our commitments."
"With the introduction of new influential ambassadors and the launch of a donation drive, we are more dedicated than ever to enabling gamers to make impactful environmental choices."
