The ratings for the premiere of season 2 of The Last of Us increased by 10%
The debut of the second season of "The Last of Us" TV series drew an impressive 5.3 million viewers in the United States, marking a 13% increase compared to the first season's debut at the start of 2023.
Initially, the premiere episode of season 1 was viewed by 4.7 million people overnight. However, the continued major success of HBO's productions and the Max streaming platform is reflected in the cumulative viewership, with the first season reaching around 32 million viewers per episode in the US within three months.
Deadline reports indicated that viewership of season 1 surged by 150% over the previous week, indicating that many viewers revisited the series in anticipation of the new season.
The second season welcomes the character Abby, played by Kaitlyn Dever, and delves into the consequences of a critical choice made by Joel, a role portrayed by Pedro Pascal, at the conclusion of season 1.
The TV adaptation, based on the popular PlayStation franchise by Naughty Dog, has been confirmed for a third season, which will extend the narrative from "The Last of Us Part II."
This season includes 7 episodes, fewer than the 9 episodes of season 1, and is part of an expected total of four seasons. New episodes air in the US on Max every Sunday and in the UK on NOW every Monday.
