Teruyuki Toriyama, known for his work on Bloodborne, has joined forces with Tomohiro Suzuki and Hideki Irie, his former colleagues from Thirdverse, to launch a new venture named Sirius Studio. This "world class development studio" aims to foster creative autonomy.
According to Famitsu, as cited by VGC, Sirius is a branch of Gz Group and is dedicated to supporting creator independence. This initiative comes after the trio parted ways with Thirdverse when the company redirected its efforts towards casual gaming.
Irie explained through an automated translation that the team at Thirdverse was originally committed to developing high-end games. However, with Thirdverse's strategic shift towards casual gaming, the team decided to amicably discuss their transition with Thirdverse's CEO, Hironao Kunimitsu.
Based in Tokyo, the new studio plans to create console and VR/XR games, working on both original creations and titles based on existing third-party intellectual properties, with the goal of inspiring players.
