Michael Sarnoski is reportedly set to direct the Death Stranding movie adaptation
The director of "A Quiet Place: Day One," Michael Sarnoski, is reportedly linked to directing the film version of "Death Stranding."
As per Deadline, Sarnoski will also be responsible for writing the script. Producers Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen, of Square Peg Films, are rumored to be involved in the movie production.
The movie adaptation was initially revealed in 2023, with Kojima Productions collaborating with the distributor A24 to bring the game to the big screen.
"Their unique presence in the industry is unmatched," expressed Hideo Kojima, the founder of the studio. "The quality and innovation in their films have set them apart."
Kojima added that their inventive storytelling techniques have significantly influenced his work. "The alignment of their innovative methods with Kojima Productions' practices over the years has led us to collaborate on a 'Death Stranding' film."
Last year, in a discussion with Variety, Kojima mentioned he will be overseeing the movie but will not direct it personally.
"I'll offer guidance to a director I have great respect for," he elaborated. "Numerous 'Death Stranding' adaptation projects are in progress, but I have penned a different narrative for a movie that I won't have time to direct myself."
In 2021, Kojima Productions established a division specifically for music, film, and television.
The original "Death Stranding," released in 2019, boasts a notable cast including Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, Guillermo del Toro, and Margaret Qualley.
Its follow-up, "Death Stranding 2: On the Beach," was announced in 2022 and is scheduled for a June 26, 2025 release. The sequel will introduce new characters played by Ellie Fanning, Shioli Kutsuna, and Luca Marinelli.
