Ubisoft Leamington has recently shut down

Ubisoft Leamington has ceased operations, following the announcement in January concerning the company's workforce reduction in the UK.

Details of the closure were made public on the studio's LinkedIn page. The announcement stated, "After many incredible years, we want to share the news that Ubisoft Leamington has officially closed its doors."

The message continued by expressing appreciation for the "talented team," highlighting the positive impact their creativity and commitment have had on the games developed, the memories created, and the community established in Leamington.

It was mentioned that some staff members would still participate in local industry events in Leamington Spa. Earlier this year, Ubisoft informed GamesIndustry.biz that a limited number of employees would transition to remote work contracts.

The closure affected about 100 positions across Ubisoft Leamington and Ubisoft Reflections in Newcastle, with Ubisoft citing the need to "prioritise projects and reduce costs for lasting stability."

Originally known as FreeStyleGames and acquired by Ubisoft in 2017, the studio contributed to major Ubisoft titles like Tom Clancy's The Division and Star Wars: Outlaws. Prior to shutting down, the team was engaged in developing a yet-to-be-announced new IP, as suggested by previous job ads and social media activity.
