London has become the world's third-largest center for game developers, following Los Angeles and San Francisco
The latest study by Unscrambled and BOP has found that London now ranks as the third most significant center for video game developers worldwide.
The analysis highlights that the UK capital has rapidly ascended to become the second-largest by workforce size, just behind Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Previously recognized as the leading hub in both the UK and Europe, London now boasts 13,700 professionals in game development, surpassing many American cities and Canadian centers like Montréal.
Additionally, 9,000 individuals in London are employed in sectors associated with gaming or industries that have grown to incorporate gaming elements, such as animation and entertainment.
This announcement coincides with the commencement of the tenth annual London Games Festival on April 2, featuring over 30 events designed to engage thousands of industry experts and gaming enthusiasts.
London’s Mayor, Sadiq Khan, remarked, "London has become a key player in the global gaming scene and leads Europe with a vibrant sector that brings in substantial investment to the nation."
The mayor continued, "My support for the London Games Festival stems from its role as an exceptional platform for this burgeoning industry. It is the largest games event in the country, contributing significantly to the economy and nurturing new talent, helping us create a better future for all Londoners."
