The National Videogame Museum names new trustees

The National Videogame Museum (NVM) has announced the appointment of new trustees for its managing charity board, The BGI.

The integration of these nine trustees will take place in two stages; the first set joined in March 2025, and the subsequent group is expected in November 2025.

This strategic move aims to enhance the museum's governance framework and assist in achieving its long-term objectives and aspirations.

The trustees bring a wealth of expertise from various sectors, including video game development, cultural heritage, brand strategy, and tech innovation.

Located in Sheffield, the NVM intends to leverage this expertise to elevate its profile, emphasize the cultural significance of video games, engage more effectively with visitors, and interact with the broader industry landscape.

The newly appointed trustees include:

  • David Barrie, founder and CEO of Game Academy
  • Joe Chetcuti, creative director at Creative Assembly
  • Emma Cooper, creative industries knowledge transfer manager at Innovate UK
  • Natalie Kane, digital design curator at The V&A
  • Nick Poole, chief executive of Ukie

The subsequent group joining later will be:

  • Brian Baglow, founder of Scottish Games Week
  • John Booth, senior director at Sony Interactive Entertainment
  • Emily Britt, senior communications manager at Sharkmob
  • Jess Gaskell, director of PMO at Sumo Digital

"We are privileged to welcome our new trustees to the board," stated Claire Boissiere, chair of the NVM board of trustees. "Their vast experience will be critical as we begin an exciting new phase for the NVM, broadening our national reach and furthering our mission. We look forward to the creative insights and directions they will bring about."

She added, "We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to the departing trustees. Their commitment, leadership, and guidance have been pivotal in the museum's achievements."

Boissiere concluded, "Their contributions will inspire us continuously, and we are profoundly thankful for their time, energy, and passion dedicated to the museum."
