The announcement was made in a statement on the game's website, where the company explained the difficulty in maintaining a satisfactory experience. The title first became available in March 2020.

The message from the team expressed regret for the decision, thanking players for their support: "Since launching War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, our aim has been to offer a delightful gaming journey. Unfortunately, sustaining such an experience has proven challenging, leading to the decision to cease service. We thank our players for their loyalty and apologize for any distress caused."

The sale of in-game currency was halted on March 25, 2025, but players can still use any remaining currency until the shutdown. Furthermore, Google Play point exchanges are set to cease on April 30, 2025, although in-game events will continue up to the closure date.

Recently, Square Enix also stopped supporting Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles on iOS due to an unresolved bug and ended the Final Fantasy Brave Exvius mobile game in October 2024.
