Seventeen employees have been let go by Crystal Dynamics to realign with its present business objectives.

An announcement on social media clarified that the studio’s ongoing projects, like the Perfect Dark reboot with The Initiative and a new Tomb Raider title, would remain unaffected despite the layoffs.

The company’s statement emphasized the difficulty of the decision, acknowledging the necessity of the move for future studio success, and it stressed that the layoffs were not due to the employees' performance or commitment.

Support such as transition packages and job-search assistance is being provided to those impacted by the decision.

Crystal Dynamics continues its commitment to delivering high-quality games, ensuring that these organizational changes will not disrupt its project timelines.

The last instance of layoffs in the company occurred in September 2023, affecting ten employees, amid a significant restructuring initiative at Embracer, the parent company.

This restructuring came after a $2 billion deal fell through, contributing to Embracer's financial challenges, including over $1 billion in debt.

Back in 2022, Embracer acquired Crystal Dynamics.
