Opus Major secures $10 million in seed funding round
Opus Major, a gaming development company based in Paris, has secured $10 million in seed funding. The investment round was spearheaded by Griffin Gaming Partners, with previous support from investor Alven.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the funds will be directed towards advancing the development of their initial project, a cross-platform multiplayer game known internally as Opus #1.
The studio intends to release a limited-access version of this game and expand its workforce by hiring additional developers.
Opus Major was established in 2023 by Jean-Nicolas Vernin, who serves as CEO, and Pierre-Armand Nicq, the chief creative officer.
Before founding Opus Major, Vernin co-founded the mobile development firm Madbox, where he took on roles as CEO and chief production officer. He has held positions as an executive producer and editorial director at Gameloft. Nicq brought his experience from a five-year tenure at Ubisoft before joining Madbox in 2021.
"Our aim at Opus Major is to bring the world together through jamming," Vernin and Nicq stated. "Music and gaming have provided us numerous joyful experiences with friends."
"We embarked on creating our first opus to achieve this mission. Our team of jammers is excited to offer a preview of our world in 2025."
Pierre Planche from Griffin Gaming Partners commented: "Music and gaming offer profound ways to connect with others, and Jean-Nicolas and Pierre-Armand are blending these elements in ways that resonate as both familiar and innovative."
