Opus Major secures $10 million in a seed funding round

Opus Major, a gaming studio headquartered in Paris, has successfully secured $10 million in seed financing. The funding round was spearheaded by Griffin Gaming Partners along with Alven, who had previously invested in the company.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, this new capital will be directed towards the continued development of their first project, a multiplayer game under the working title Opus #1, which will be available across multiple platforms.
In addition to game development, the studio aims to create a limited-access version for early testing and to expand their workforce by recruiting additional developers.
Launched in 2023, Opus Major was established by Jean-Nicolas Vernin, who serves as CEO, and Pierre-Armand Nicq, the chief creative officer.
Vernin is an experienced industry leader who co-founded Madbox and held key roles such as CEO and chief production officer. He also has a background with Gameloft as an executive producer and editorial lead. Nicq brings his expertise from Ubisoft, where he spent five years before joining Madbox in 2021.
"Opus Major's vision is to bring people together through music and gaming," stated Vernin and Nicq. "Our personal experiences in both fields have inspired us to craft our inaugural project, aiming for its first showcase in 2025 with the help of our talented team."
Pierre Planche from Griffin Gaming Partners remarked, "Music and gaming provide significant social connections, and the innovative approach by Jean-Nicolas and Pierre-Armand creates a blend that is both recognizable and distinct."
