Monster Hunter Wilds has emerged as the top-selling video game in the United States for 2025 to date, according to the US Monthly Charts

Monster Hunter Wilds by Capcom led the US sales charts as reported by Circana for February and is the top-selling game of 2025 to date. This action RPG achieved the highest ranking on both PlayStation and Xbox charts, with Steam contributing more than half of its total sales.

Circana highlighted that the game's debut month sales were more than twice the amount recorded by Monster Hunter Rise when it launched in March 2021. Monster Hunter Wilds set a new record for Capcom, selling 8 million copies within its first three days, making it the company's fastest-selling game ever.

Coming in second was Warhorse Studios' Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, which also secured the same position on both PlayStation and Xbox rankings. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's launch revenue surpassed its predecessor's February 2018 earnings by over five times. Following its release on February 4, 2025, it sold 1 million units within 24 hours and reached 2 million within less than two weeks.

The top ten list included other new entries like Civilization 7 at third spot, PGA Tour 2K25 at fourth, Avowed at seventh, and Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii holding the eighth position. Avowed was also number six in Xbox's engagement stats.

In the mobile gaming sector, Monopoly Go maintained the leading position, while Last War: Survival moved up by two spots, surpassing Roblox in monthly US spending for the first time, according to Samuel Aune from Sensor Tower. "If the trend continues, Last War: Survival could soon rank second in US mobile gaming in-app purchase revenue," noted Aune. Notably, Pokémon TCG Pocket and Pokémon Go both appeared in the top ten, marking a first for two games from the same intellectual property to achieve this simultaneously.

Consumer spending in the US decreased by 6% compared to the previous year, totaling $4.5 billion in February. Circana reported that this year's spending is down by 11% from the same time in 2024, totaling $9 billion. Spending on video game content specifically fell by 4% year-over-year to $4 billion.

Hardware revenue experienced a 25% decline, amounting to $256 million, marking the lowest figure for February since 2020 when it reached $184 million. Additionally, PlayStation 5 unit sales are 7% ahead of PlayStation 4 after 52 months in the market, while Xbox Series X|S lags 19% behind Xbox One.
