Pragma has raised $12.75 million. Its BaaS platform underpins Predecessor and Stormgate

The American company Pragma has announced that it has received strategic investments. It has been allocated $12.75 million to develop its namesake BaaS (backend-as-a-service) platform, which is used in operating live-service games.

Among Pragma's investors is Square Enix. Additionally, Greylock Partners, Upfront Ventures, and Insight Partners have made investments. To date, the developers have raised over $50 million from investors.

Pragma announced that it would use the funds to expand its toolset and possibly acquire other companies. It reminded that at the end of February, it bought the FirstLook.gg platform for game testing and does not rule out further expansion.

Pragma was founded in 2019 by former Riot Games lead engineer Chris Cobb and Fishermen Labs founder Eden Chen. Initially, the company consisted of just the two of them, but now it has several dozen employees.

The Pragma BaaS platform allows live-service game developers to work with the backend of their projects. Specifically, it provides tools for matchmaking systems, cross-platform support, social features, monetization, and much more.

Pragma's services have been used by the developers of Predecessor and Stormgate, among other clients. Its clients also include studios like People Can Fly, Radical Forge, Elodie Games, Lightforge Games, and Gardens Interactive.
