Madbox establishes a new studio in Annecy, France
The mobile gaming firm Madbox has inaugurated a brand new office in Annecy, situated in France. This expansion, highlighted by Pocket Gamer, saw the studio start operations in January 2025 within the shared workspace Les Papeteries – Image Factory.
Heading the team in Annecy are game lead Arthur Michel, with support from game manager Hugues Barlet and senior game developer Clément Auvray. Madbox intends to boost its employee base by 15% throughout 2025, with half of these new roles based in the newly established location.
Madbox CEO and co-founder, Maxime Demeure, explained the strategic choice of Annecy by stating, "Our goal is to unite top-tier talent to produce exceptional games. We aspired to create a distinctive working environment in a city renowned for its beauty and creativity."
He added, "At Madbox, we are committed to making bold decisions and establishing new opportunities for our talented teams, which led us to embark on the Annecy venture. It's about investing in our people, which is a core principle of Madbox since the beginning."
Established in 2018, Madbox also operates from locations in Paris and Barcelona. In 2019, the company secured $16.5 million during a Series A funding round, facilitating the launch of their Spanish branch.
