In 2024, Kickstarter set a record for the number of successful campaigns for video games
Last year, 441 video game crowdfunding campaigns were successfully completed on Kickstarter. This is the highest figure in the history of the platform, according to the official Kickstarter blog.
My Time at Evershine
For comparison: in 2023, there were 9% fewer successful campaigns.
This time, the Kickstarter owners did not specify the most funded video games of the year in their report. However, according to the site's statistics, My Time at Evershine — a life simulator from the Chinese studio Pathea Games — raised the most money in 2024. Its creators secured the backing of 34,000 people and received $2.9 million.
Also in the top 3 most funded video games on Kickstarter for 2024 were the remake of Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars ($778,000) and The Wayward Realms ($767,500).
In total, Kickstarter users supported video game developers with $26 million in 2024. Compared to 2023, funding increased by 28%.
However, Kickstarter video game funding traditionally remains much lower than tabletop game funding. Last year, tabletop game creators received a total of $220 million.
