The SEC is reportedly investigating Roblox

Roblox is currently involved in an investigation by the US Securities and Exchange Commission, according to recent reports.

Bloomberg noted that the inclusion of the company in the investigation was confirmed through a response to a Freedom of Information Act request.

The SEC has chosen not to release more information, stating that it might "cause harm to the ongoing enforcement proceeding."

Details regarding the nature of this investigation have yet to be disclosed.

In October of the previous year, Roblox denied allegations from Hindenburg Research about inflating metrics for investors and not adequately safeguarding minors.

In a statement, the company stated, "The financial claims made by Hindenburg are misleading," accusing the authors of having "an agenda irrespective of the substance of Roblox's business model and results."

Addressing concerns about child safety, the company underscored its seriousness regarding any content or behavior not aligning with the platform's standards and mentioned its preventative measures against harmful activities.

In November 2024, upgrades were made to Roblox's safety systems and parental controls to enhance protection for users under 13, as reported in reports.

Recently, Roblox disclosed its financial results for the fourth quarter and the complete fiscal year, indicating an increase in both revenue and bookings alongside a reduction in net losses compared to earlier periods.
