In 2024, Supercell earned a record 2.8 billion euros, but Squad Busters was disappointing

Supercell CEO Ilkka Paananen shared in the company's official blog how the year 2024 was for them. According to him, it was a "rollercoaster ride."

Squad Busters

Supercell's Performance in 2024:

  • Revenue reached a record €2.8 billion, a 77% increase compared to 2023;
  • EBITDA was €876 million, an increase of 78%;
  • The total monthly active audience of Supercell's games exceeded 300 million people;
  • For the first time since 2014, all Supercell games generated higher gross revenue than the previous year;
  • Released on May 30, Squad Busters earned over $100 million by the end of December. Despite this, the game's performance disappointed the company and fell short of expectations. However, Supercell is learning from its mistakes and plans to make significant changes to Squad Busters;
  • On the other hand, Brawl Stars performed excellently last year. As Paananen stated, it "doubled, tripled, quadrupled (and even more) its metrics." Notably, audience size, revenue, and engagement levels grew significantly;
  • In 2024, Supercell paid €41 million in taxes in Finland. The previous year, its contributions to the country's treasury amounted to €110 million;
  • The staff at Supercell increased by 31% to 686 employees over the year.

“We believe in supporting teams, not games. We believe in this because it's simply impossible to know how successful a game will be, but we know that a great game cannot be created without a great team,” Paananen said.
