Nintendo has elaborated on its strategy to address anticipated interest in the Nintendo Switch 2.

During a Q&A session related to the latest earnings call, Shuntaro Furukawa, president of Nintendo, informed investors that the initial demand would align with responses from the Nintendo Direct event on April 2. This event aims to deliver a "closer look" at the forthcoming Switch 2.

Nintendo is also relying on insights from consumer hands-on events that are set to commence globally on April 4.

Furukawa mentioned, "We are currently taking the risk by proceeding with production to meet as large a demand as possible. As was true with the Switch, we believe it will not be easy to quickly ramp up production capacity. Therefore, based on our previous experiences, we are preparing to respond swiftly."

Furukawa had previously indicated, back in July, that Nintendo plans to prevent scalping issues by ensuring ample supply of consoles for retailers to satisfy customer demand.

Additionally, during the earnings call, Furukawa addressed how the company plans to handle game releases for both Switch and Switch 2.

When asked about future releases for the Switch system, he highlighted the 2025 lineup, which includes titles like Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, confirming their availability on the Switch.

"Considering there are many current Switch users, if we can create engaging software, we would still aim to release new titles," he explained. "Moreover, exclusive titles are key when introducing new hardware."

He added, "We will explore various strategies for Switch and Switch 2 to attract the maximum number of gamers to our offerings."
