According to a recent report, Bandai Namco has discreetly reduced its workforce by 120 positions in under a year

Between April 2024 and February 2025, Bandai Namco has reportedly experienced a significant reduction in its workforce, with over a hundred positions eliminated.

According to Automaton, the company had 1294 employees, as noted in its own documentation. However, current figures from the Japan Pension Service indicate this number has declined to 1177 by February 4, 2025.

This development comes in the wake of earlier reports from last October, suggesting the Tokyo-headquartered company employed a traditional Japanese method to reduce its workforce by assigning employees to roles with no tasks, a practice intended to encourage resignations.

It was also reported that around 200 of the then 1300 employees were placed in these so-called "expulsion rooms," or "oidashi beya," and almost half have since resigned voluntarily.

At the end of November 2024, Bandai Namco Online was officially integrated into its parent entity.

This movement was described as an "absorption-type merger," leading to the closure of Bandai Namco Online. Established in 2009 to enhance Bandai’s online initiatives, its operations were transferred to Bandai Namco.
