The Video Game History Foundation (VGHF) has unveiled its Digital Library, an archive featuring a selection of over 30,000 files curated from their physical holdings.

Currently available in early access, the archive expects to expand but now hosts over 1,500 out-of-print video game magazines that are fully text-searchable, along with unseen development elements, art, and promotional content.

Individuals can look up games, authors, and publishers through both public and formerly internal materials.

The collection consists of guidebooks, along with content from the first dozen years of E3, an assortment gathered internationally by citizen archivist Kris Urqhart pertaining to FromSoftware, and around 100 CDs worth of art and press releases from GamePro magazine's collection.

Frank Cifaldi, the founder of VGHF, remarked, "Since starting the Video Game History Foundation in 2017, embarking on this initiative has been a proud venture for us. The access to our digital library aligns with our mission to make video game history accessible to everyone."

He continued, "The right resources can transform anyone into a video game historian; we're eager to witness the new narratives our archive may birth. We encourage those within the gaming world to recognize the value in preserving their contributions and supporting initiatives like ours."

Phil Salvador, VGHF's library director, stated, "Our aspiration has been to provide broad access to our collections, independent of location, and today marks the initial step towards realizing that digital openness."

"We truly believe this tool will revolutionize the study of video game history. We are excited to discover what insights historians, researchers, authors, YouTubers, fans, and others in the community will unearth."
