Phoenix Labs has reduced its workforce by a "majority"
Developer Phoenix Labs, based in Vancouver, has reduced its workforce significantly, affecting most of its employees.
The company announced on LinkedIn that these layoffs are part of difficult but necessary adjustments to their business operations.
"We acknowledge and value the contributions of each person affected," the company stated. "Their skills and dedication have profoundly influenced our company and our projects."
Phoenix Labs revealed that the futures of their games, Dauntless and Fae Farm, remain uncertain, promising to disclose "more details in the coming weeks."
"Currently, our priority is to assist those impacted during this transition," the statement concluded.
In May, it was reported that 140 employees were let go. Former principal engineer Kris Morness noted that Phoenix Labs had been acquired by the blockchain company Forte over a year ago, which resulted in "the cancellation of all projects under development."
This situation comes after another series of layoffs in December 2023, affecting 34 employees in the company’s publishing, HR, IT, and shared services departments. Earlier, in May 2023, Phoenix Labs reduced its workforce by 9%.
