Ubisoft has announced the elimination of 185 positions as part of a strategy to "prioritize projects and reduce costs"

Ubisoft is trimming its workforce in various European locations, resulting in the closure of one studio and affecting a total of 185 employees.

Approximately 100 of these job reductions will be at two UK offices—Leamington and Reflections. Additional layoffs are occurring at Ubisoft Düsseldorf and Ubisoft Stockholm as part of a strategic restructuring aimed at focusing on key projects and reducing expenditures.

In a statement to GamesIndustry.biz, a Ubisoft representative explained, "To ensure Ubisoft's long-term stability, we're making targeted changes at Ubisoft Düsseldorf, Ubisoft Stockholm, and Ubisoft Reflections, and shutting down the Ubisoft Leamington location permanently."

"Regrettably, this will impact a total of 185 employees. We are sincerely thankful for their contributions and pledge to assist them during this transition," they added.

Ubisoft further clarified to GamesIndustry.biz that a minor segment of staff from Leamington will transition to remote work arrangements.

The wave of employment reductions that began last year appears to persist into 2025. In January, the closures of Freejam, Splash Damage, and Jar of Sparks were reported.

In addition, Swedish gaming company Enad Global 7 (EG7) began winding down operations at Toadman Interactive, leading to 69 job cuts and 38 dismissals at Piranha Games.

Earlier reports indicated that nearly all of Leamington's 50 employees would be laid off, but it has now been updated that the 100 job cuts will span both Leamington and Reflections.
