In 2024, Epic Games paid island creators in Fortnite over 350 million dollars

Epic Games has summarized 2024 for Fortnite. Among other things, it reported that users who created their games within the battle royale received a total of $352 million in payments from the company over the year.

According to Epic Games, most payments were modest, but there were also significant disbursements. For instance, the company allocated $1-3 million to 37 island creators, $3-10 million to another 14 creators, and over $10 million to seven creators.

Recall, Epic Games began sharing revenue with island creators in Fortnite in March 2023. According to the company, players earned 11% more in 2024 than from March to December 2023.

Other statistics shared by Epic Games:

  • by the end of 2024, more than 70,000 people created their islands in Fortnite;
  • the number of custom islands reached 198,000;
  • in 2024, players visited an average of 60,000 custom islands daily. 70% of players returned to islands they found interesting, whether created by other players or Epic Games;
  • over the year, Fortnite's average daily audience grew by 15%. Monthly and yearly audiences also grew, but exact figures were not disclosed;
  • in 2024, Fortnite users spent 5.23 billion hours in games created within Fortnite by other players, which is 5% more than the previous year;
  • custom islands accounted for 36.5% of all playtime in Fortnite in 2024.
