Reflector, the developer of Unknown 9, has announced layoffs after forgoing approval of an unnamed project. The exact number of affected employees is uncertain, but support personnel will also be reduced to align with the studio's focus on one project.

Those laid off will receive appropriate compensation, continued health coverage for them and their families, and access to counseling and career planning services.

CEO Herve Hoerdt expressed that advancing with the project, which was still in the early stage, was unsustainable for the studio's future.

The decision ties back to the failure of their initial major project, a new IP that did not meet company goals despite several timeline extensions and investments. Hoerdt stated that pursuing the next project wasn't justified.

Efforts will be made to reassign some of the affected staff to another unnamed project that is based on an existing Bandai Namco IP, which is reportedly progressing well.
