Nintendo, BioWare, and Deck Nine have been nominated for this year's GLAAD awards, an organization dedicated to highlighting positive LGBTQ+ portrayals in media, including the gaming sector.

Most nominations for Outstanding Video Game were awarded to indie creators, featuring titles like Caravan SandWitch, Dread Delusion, Dustborn, Fear the Spotlight, Minds Beneath Us, Sorry We're Closed, and Until Then.

According to Eurogamer, the remake of Nintendo's Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door may have been recognized due to the inclusion of the character Vivian, a ghost companion. Originally released on the GameCube in 2000, Vivian was a trans character who was purposely misgendered by other characters. However, this aspect was omitted in several versions, including the English release. In the more recent remake, Nintendo reinstated Vivian's trans identity.

Both Life is Strange: Double Exposure and Dragon Age: The Veilguard also earned nominations.

The previous year's top honor for Outstanding Video Game at the GLAAD awards was awarded to Baldur's Gate 3.
